Many Auto parts stores offer free “diagnostic” scan for dash lights such as a check engine light. These “diagnostic scans” show the vehicle fault code/s that are present but it does not indicate which part/s have failed. These fault codes simply offer a starting point as to which direction to go & the type of testing that may be needed.
Automotive Diagnostic is similar to when we are sick and visit the doctor. We begin by stating our symptoms (fault codes) & then the doctor will have a starting point in which to order blood work, x-rays & etc. (diagnostic testing).
